KYC & AML Policy
1. Why we verify
Pickering Casino accepts players only from jurisdictions that permit online gambling. Our anti-money laundering, age and identity checks follow Canadian rules. Know your customer (KYC) checks establish your identity, while anti-money laundering (AML) controls stop criminal proceeds from reaching our cashier.
Verification is there to protect you. It prevents another person from registering under your name, keeps minors out of the lobby and ensures your winnings go to you alone. The same process applies to every player, whether you play a few spins on Popular slots or move up through Pickering Rewards to VIP.
2. Ongoing monitoring
Checks continue after registration. Throughout the life of an active account, we watch for activity that strays from normal play, for example:
- big deposits that are withdrawn again after very few bets;
- frequent changes of payment method or use of cards in other people's names;
- several accounts sharing one owner, one device or the same payment details;
- activity that is out of line with the player's known profile.
Deposits are accepted through Interac e-Transfer, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Paysafecard, MuchBetter and Neteller. Withdrawals are available through Interac e-Transfer, Visa, Apple Pay, MuchBetter and Neteller. Where we can, we send winnings back to a method you previously funded your balance with. The monthly withdrawal ceiling is C$10 000, and no payout is released until it clears our verification checks.
3. Record keeping and reporting
We keep records of identity checks, documents, deposits, withdrawals and bets for the periods Canadian law requires. These records allow us, and the authorities where the law demands it, to reconstruct any transaction on an account.
Where Canadian law demands it, we notify the proper authorities of suspicious activity and of some large transactions. We will not say whether any report was filed, because the law may bar us from disclosing it. Records are kept secure and managed according to Your Privacy.
4. Source of funds
For some accounts, we may request evidence showing where the money you gamble with comes from. Such requests usually come after a large increase in deposits, a sudden shift in activity or a flag from our monitoring. They are routine AML practice and do not imply any suspicion of you.
Suitable evidence can include:
- recent payslips or an employment letter;
- bank statements showing where deposits came from;
- documents showing the sale of property, an inheritance or investment income.
While a source of funds request is open, we may hold withdrawals or limit deposits until the check is complete.
5. Identity and age checks
Three points must be confirmed before your opening deposit is accepted: your identity, your age, which must be at least 19, and your location. We compare the details you gave when signing up, namely your home address, legal name and date of birth, against independent records.
Where electronic checks cannot confirm everything, we ask for documents. These normally include:
- Photo identification: any government-issued document that is still valid and shows your photo, for instance your passport or your driver's licence.
- Address proof: a recently issued document showing your current home address together with your name, such as an official letter, a bill from a utility provider or a statement from your bank.
- Payment ownership: proof that each card and e-wallet you use for payments belongs to you. A card photo with most of the number hidden is enough, as is an image of your e-wallet profile page.
Each document must be complete, sharp and in colour. Email the files to support, and once the check is complete you will get a confirmation by email.
6. When verification fails
An account remains restricted while we cannot verify your age, identity, location or source of funds. Depending on the case, this can mean:
- deposits and gameplay stay blocked until the documents we require reach us;
- pending withdrawals are held until verification is complete;
- an account is closed when its documents are refused, altered, or found to belong to someone else.
Accounts held by players under the age of 19 are closed and handled in line with our Underage Gambling Policy. If we suspect money laundering or fraud, we may withhold the account's funds and, where Canadian law requires, notify the appropriate authorities. Our Player Agreement explains account restrictions in more detail.
7. Sanctions lists and politically exposed persons
We screen every player against international sanctions lists. The same screening identifies politically exposed persons (PEPs): people in a prominent public office now or in the past, along with their relatives and close associates.
PEPs can still play with us. These accounts go through enhanced due diligence, with questions on source of funds and source of wealth, and their activity is monitored more closely. We do not open or maintain accounts for sanctioned persons, and we block every transaction connected to sanctioned individuals or locations.
Screening happens at sign-up and continues afterwards, so any change to a list is caught even once an account is already running.
8. Contact
All verification takes place over email. Write to mail@pickeringcasino.app to submit documents, check on a pending request or query a held withdrawal. Messages sent from the email you registered with let us match them safely to the right account.
