Player Protection
1. Our commitment
Pickering Casino lets you decide how you play. Popular slots, Live Casino tables, Jackpots, Promotions: every corner of the lobby is designed for adults who treat gaming as entertainment and keep their hours and spending in check.
Protecting players is built into every account. All the tools described here are found under account settings, are free of charge, and can be turned on without explaining why.
Our team monitors accounts for warning signs of gambling-related harm, such as deposits that suddenly climb, withdrawals reversed over and over, or play sessions much longer than your normal pattern. When these appear, we may contact you by email, point you to a fitting tool or stop promotional messages to your account. No Pickering Rewards or VIP offers go to a player while their cooling-off time is running or their self-exclusion is in place.
2. Protecting minors
You can sign up once you turn 19. Ahead of any deposit, our team verifies your identity and confirms that you are playing from a supported region. Deposits and real-money bets stay locked until both checks are done.
If you live with children or teenagers, our Underage Gambling Policy explains the filtering tools and device settings that help keep gambling sites out of their reach.
3. Tools you control
Limits on deposits, wagers and stakes
With limits, you fix your spending ahead of time, in Canadian dollars, over a period of your choosing.
- Deposit limit: puts a maximum on the money you pay in during the period.
- Wager limit: caps your combined stakes on every game during the period.
- Stake limit: sets the maximum for any one bet, spin or hand.
Choose a single limit or use all three together. When you hit a limit, the system stops any further activity of that kind until the period ends.
Reality checks
While you play, reality checks pop up on screen as reminders. Each shows how much time you have spent logged in, then lets you continue, check your account activity or sign out. You choose how often they appear.
Time alerts
Time alerts work alongside reality checks. Pick the length of your session, and you get an alert when it runs out, so a short look at the lobby does not turn into a long visit without you noticing.
Short cooling-off pause
Cooling Off puts you in charge of how long your account is paused: one day at the shortest, six weeks at the longest. For as long as the pause is active, you cannot fund your account or place wagers, and we send you no promotional messages. Once started, a pause cannot be ended ahead of schedule. When your chosen period is over, the account reopens automatically and every feature becomes available again.
Self-exclusion
For a stronger, longer-lasting break, choose self-exclusion. Your account remains locked for its full term, with deposits and bets switched off and every promotion halted. Reopening before the period finishes is not possible, and throughout it we take steps to block anyone from registering a fresh account under your name.
Closing your account
To close your account permanently, email support from the address tied to your account. We send email confirmation once the closure is complete, and any remaining balance is paid out as set out in our Player Agreement.
Verifying identity and location
Your identity must be established and your location verified before any deposit is processed. Both sides benefit from these steps: minors are kept off the site, your personal details are shielded from misuse by others, and gambling happens only in places where local rules permit it.
4. How limit changes take effect
We treat lowering a limit and raising a limit differently, on purpose.
- Decreases apply instantly. Lowering your deposit, wager or stake limit protects you right away.
- Increases take 24 hours. A higher limit only becomes active after a 24 hour waiting period.
- Lifting a limit counts as an increase. It likewise takes effect only after 24 hours have passed.
This waiting period lets you consider your decision away from an active session. Throughout those 24 hours, your current limit remains in force.
5. Self-assessment
The self-assessment quiz is a brief questionnaire you can fill in privately from your account. It explores the role gambling plays in your life, with questions like:
- Do you often spend more than you intended while playing?
- Do you keep playing to recover money you have lost?
- Have you kept your gambling hidden from the people closest to you?
- Do you get irritable or unsettled when you attempt to gamble less?
- Has gambling caused money worries or arguments at home?
Nobody else sees your answers. At the end, the quiz recommends tools suited to your circumstances and lists the support services below. If you recognize yourself in several answers, we strongly encourage you to put a limit in place or pause your play today, and to reach out to a support service.
6. Free, confidential support
The following organisations support players and their relatives free of charge:
- Gamban / GamBlock: software that blocks access to gambling websites and apps on your devices.
- Kindbridge Behavioral Health: counselling and therapy for gambling concerns.
- Responsible Gambling Council: information and guidance on safer play.
- YMCA Youth Gambling Awareness Program: education for young people, parents and schools.
- ConnexOntario: help finding treatment and support services in Ontario.
You do not need a Pickering Casino account to reach any of these services, and speaking with them will not affect your account here.
7. Contact
Every player protection request is handled by our support team at mail@pickeringcasino.app. Email us to switch on a tool, find out how a limit works, ask for self-exclusion or a break, or shut your account.
